Araw ng Dabaw 2011: Kaon ta Day, Lingaw ta Bai
Last March 9, 2011, Wednesday, Yvette Hernandez a friend, business woman managing the dormitory from where I’m staying approached and told me if I’m interested for a new sideline job, at first I was hesitant – “I have no idea what hell the setup will be – because I have no experience at all or know how to get along with customers” Who cares? lets give myself a try, well be managing, selling foodstuffs and beverages for (5) five consecutive days celebrating the 74 Araw ng Dabaw 2011. In other words I’ll be serving as waiter – seems like I found my new-found odd job/business hobby yay!
Enter 74 Araw ng Davao, with the theme “Kaon ta Day, Lingaw ta Bai” – is a week-long event commencing on March 14 and ending March 16, 2011.
You can refer the schedule
Local bands in Davao City also graced the nightly event – Pakonsiyerto ni Mayor, girls from the crowd shrieked in excitement and were fortunate to see a hunk appear on stage Derek Ramsay, as if they where feeling like Angelica Pangilinan star for that moment, Mocha Girls on the other hand, the all girl group heat up the night – teasing men with their naughty dances and songs – all for good clean fun – no malice ok!, Kjwan and Rocksteddy did a good job connecting with the fans, audiences sang along with them, and there I was at distant stall where I’m serving near the sound control booth. The place packed with people – I was not able to pass through the pathways – traffic jam!
The concert would not be a success and complete without the people behind the sound system setup engineering – folks you did great!
We had our picture taken with one of the San Miguel Beer Models – Isn’t that lovely?
The last day on March 16th sucked out all the energy out of me, we were tending to customers as the place was filled with people, it was both tiring and a rewarding experience, I get to know what they want, serve them up some beer, pulutan and a little chat with humor, they keep coming back for more.
Surprisingly, my name was called on stage – I won myself a overnight stay at Marco Polo Hotel gift certificate, a ticket which was raffled courtesy of San Miguel Beer. Thank you SMB! Yehey!
